Clearing History and Website Data Glitch?

Ever since the last OS update on both my iPad and iPhone, every time I tap “Clear History and website Data,” I immediately get a message asking if I want to close all tabs. It forces me to answer, or it won’t clear the history. This happens every single time, and it’s irritating. How can I get it to stop?

Being a system-generated prompt, this cannot be suppressed.

It is generally only necessary to erase/clear your History and Website Data if you need to resolve an issue - or remove cached data to release internal system storage. If you are attempting to clear browsing history or cached data, many Users might wish to retain existing open-tabs, as otherwise these would also be lost; the prompt that you see provides choice appropriate to need.

What, precisely, are you attempting to achieve? Are you trying to resolve a performance issue, or something else?
