Mac iPhone Photos management offline store some of them on Mac

I can have more Photo Libraries (option + start Photos).

Only the (System) one is being synced to iCloud.

Lets say:

  • I have 5GB iCloud
  • I have Photos synced between all devices Iphone + Mac
  • I create on Mac new library "offline" and import photos from iPhone

(most of iCloud for being synced 256GB iphone and only 5gb iCloud)

  • Than I need to select all unhearted images and dellete them from iPhone ? Is it possible

(this keeps my "i need those images" still synced and I can save space)

  • Now all my images are storred in offline library (not the system one) on Mac
  • I can clear down all images from iPhone to enable iCloud 5GB syncing again

?1 How do I on my Mac transfer images from one library to another

?2 Can I preserve images stored in "Stories"

Hi Kubo381,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

iCloud Photos is a syncing service, not a backup service so photos that you delete from your iPhone would be deleted from iCloud on all devices:

"iCloud Photos automatically keeps every photo and video you take in iCloud, so you can access your library from any device, anytime you want. Any changes you make to your collection on one device change on your other devices too. Your photos and videos are organized into Years, Months, Days, and All Photos. And all of your Memories and People are updated everywhere. That way you can quickly find the moment, family member, or friend you're looking for."

Set up and use iCloud Photos - Apple Support

As far is copying photos from one library to another on your Mac, you can follow the steps here to do so: Import photos from another library in Photos on Mac - Apple Support

We hope this helps.

Cheers!

As for your question 2, I'm not sure what you mean by "Stories", but you would have to include them in the selection criteria in your fourth step ("select all unhearted images" [not in Stories]).

You might find it simpler to increase your iCloud storage to cover the current photo holdings on your phone until you get things sorted out. You may need it for only a month or two.
