Why was the calculator removed on OS 12?

When I want to use the calculator, or many other apps, I just use "Spotlight." In this case, push command-space, ⌘-space, and start typing calculator. By the time you get to "l" you can pick the calculator. This is often faster than hunting for it on the Dock.

It's not removed. It's in the Applications folder. You can drag it into the Dock if you like.
FWIW, If you are going to use Spotlight, you might as well just do your calculations there.
True--Spotlight does some pretty sophisticated calculations! But I have other calculators that I open using spotlight-- and it works for other apps, too. Good to have multiple options!
I never heard of Spotlight but it did bring up the calculator. I find it hard to remember all these command buttons I have to press which is why I prefer the icon. Thanks for the info.
Well, there's an icon for Siri-- you could click on that and say "show me the calculator" and it pops right up. Just sayin'...
