Any way to track stolen iPhone 4 without having previously installed an app

Hi, I've had my iPhone 4 stolen.

I've not got a mobile me subscription, (but I'd buy one if it meant I could track the phone?) and haven't installed any third party tracking app either.

Is there any way it could be tracked? It seems silly that my network can send a shutdown signal, to essentially "brick" the phone unless it's recovered, but can't have the device report it's location...

a software can download free and enable the theft/ who stole the iphone to access the data even without a single try to guess the passcode.

The passcode security issue in iOS 6.1 was fixed with 6.1.3 - all you have to do is update your phone and the vulnerability no longer exists.

Hi Paul: I did not read the whole thread, but I did following:

locked my iPhone with the lock code.

Then I started a Tool called Diskaid and connected the phone to the mac; Diskaid presented everything on the iPhone to copy to the mac while the iPhone was still locked.

You do not need to hijack an old thread, you could have started your own. The fact that you ask proves that you have not enabled the "Find my iPhone" feature, so all you can do is change any compromised passwords, tell your carrier, police, insurance company, and buy another phone.

Mine was stolen, then thrown away when I did the FIND MY IPHONE (Suspect that is when) found by an older gentleman that I know and trust, he did not know it was mine, gave it to his daughter to turn in to a Rogers store, which she did in good faith, an employee sold it as a new one, according to the police record.
