Not receiving Gmail notifications on my new iPhone

I have the official Gmail app. All notifications are enabled, set to Automatically fetch messages. Gmail app allowed to refresh in background. The notifications worked for a day or two and then just stopped.

Running the latest iOS on iPhone 13.

This is really frustrating because I keep missing important messages. When I open the app I can see it just starting to load new messages.

I've read some threads around the forum and it looks like people did not use to have this issue before the iOS update. Is it related to any new settings? Did anyone manage to fix it?
