Will a DVI montor work to veiw my macbook pro 2017 15 that has a broken screen?

I have a MacBook Pro 2017 15" that has a broken screen that is unreadable. Can I use a DVI monitor to view what is going on with it. I was able to transfer the data to a new MacBook Air now I want to see if it is working and if replacing the display is worth the money. Thank you for any advice.

Hi,

I think you can't use DVI external monitor without setting up, though if you have iPad, your MacBook Pro has Sidecar capability.

The cost of replacement LCD is around $600 or more, however your MacBook Pro is supported macOS 13 Ventura, so it depends on your decision it's worth to replace LCD or not.
