Cannot save PDF file from website

I Have a MacBook Pro 13". I am trying to save a document as a pdf file from a website (e.g. recipe). I have tried with different websites but have the same issue. When I select print, destination is “save as pdf’. When I click “save”, the destination section briefly shows up but then disappears. Esc, cancel and save light up above my keyboard. When I click save on the keyboard, the documents end up in the downloads section. How can I save the file to the location I want it to be please? I have no issues when saving files like WORD etc. as pdf

I would be grateful if anyone can offer a solution (I have cleared the cache and rebooted but same problem).  Thank you.

Give this a try: boot into Safe Mode according to How to use safe mode on your Mac and test to see if the problem persists. Reboot normally and test again.

NOTE: Safe Mode boot can take up to 3 - 5 minutes as it's doing the following;

• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)

• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

• Disables user-installed fonts

• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files
