Sky Go app on M1 Mac "Unsupported URL"

It has been asked before but no satisfactory response. Has anyone got Sky Go app working on an M1 Mac?

According to Sky, their Sky Go app needs Rosetta - https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-go-install-computer-laptop

According to Apple, any app that needs Rosetta will prompt you to install it (If you need to install Rosetta on your Mac – Apple Support (UK)) but that doesn't happen.

What does happen is, when installing the Sky Go app it gives an error "Unsupported URL" and Quit is the only option.

It seems that you have not even been able to install the application.

Can you post a screenshot of that error you get? (Press command-shift-4 and drag to take a screenshot; it will be saved to your Desktop)

I don’t think it is a matter of installing Rosetta, but just in case that helps, you can force the installation of Rosetta: in the Terminal, paste the following line:

sudo softwareupdate --install-rosetta

type your password when requested (there is no feedback while typing the password) and press enter.

Thank you for the information on how to use terminal to install Rosetta, you were right, it has not solved the issue with Sky Go not installing. The Rosetta installation also gives an error:

2022-09-03 07:52:34.791 softwareupdate[2351:84228] Package Authoring Error: 012-51699: Package reference com.apple.pkg.RosettaUpdateAuto is missing installKBytes attribute

Install of Rosetta 2 finished successfully
