Launchpad Apps that absolutely don't show up in Applications??

I've been having issues for months trying to Launch a SkyGo (subscription TV service), on my MacBook Air 2021, M1, running Ventura 13.3.1...I've read up on many threads here and I've now installed Rosetta 2 and want to launch the SkyGo (Intel app), using Rosetta.

HOWEVER, as this SkyGo App does not show up anywhere (or in any sub folder) of my Applications, I cannot then open SkyGo and force it to open using Rosetta by ticking that option in the Get Info tab...(as I've read about in threads here & believed this would solve the problem)

The issue I have is that when I do find the SkyGo App, all I see is the Installer App (by going via Downloads) & I can open this with 'Right Click' & then using 'Get Info', but I only see a tickbox saying 'Locked', but no option to tick Open with Rosetta.

I revert to my initial question, that if I can see the App in Launchpad, but cannot actually get into it using Finder & then Applications, why is that happening, because I can see every other Launchpad App in Applications?

Please help, as I'm at my absolute wits end with this!!🙏🏼

Yes. I actually found it. I downloaded the file to my M1 MacBook Air which came as a .zip file. Unzipped the file and ran the installer. It installs itself in /Users/<user name>/Applications/Sky Go.app. It also shows in Launchpad.

Did you run the installer?

Hi, yes, I’m in the UK & also have the SkyGo working perfectly on a 2nd, older Mac with older OS (El Capitán 10.11.6).

I assure you, the App was opening as I explained & without any issue before I downloaded Rosetta (which Ive only done in the past few days, due to another thread I read about this issue).

I’m definitely no expert, but I just know there’s no change since I updated Rosetta or any other of these suggestions & the SkyGo is exactly the same, ie it opens and goes into the opening page no Issue, but then it just buffers & will not offer any progress from that point, so impossible to actually view anything….

See pic attached.

Sorry, I did include in my initial question and info to the community...

I'll re-install now and try it again from Users.

I never actually have any problem opening SkyGo, once it's installed, the problem is that it never actually works..the process goes right through to the opening screen for SKyGo, but then never connects..so I assume that the App isn't running correctly on my Laptop, as I have it on an older OS and opens/runs fine..hence why I looked into the new OS and the Rosetta issue was mentioned.

Hi, Sorry to be back again and I've tried both suggestions and sadly no progress...

  • In Users/<name>/Applications OR Launchpad opening, I can find and open the App which goes all the way into the opening sequence (same as always), but the SkyGo App never connects to the Sky server to allow viewing
  • In safe mode, the outcome is exactly the same as above..

It was suggested in a previous thread, that to open an 'Intel' App on the new Apple Silicone processors, that it's necessary to open using Rosetta, and there should be a Rosetta open tick box in the 'Get Info' area of the App, but when I open Sky Go, this option isn't available.

If anyone can advise how to achieve this, please advise.
