The transparency mode switches off by itself after fully charging them overnight. I tried to reset it, but no luck. The only way to turn them back on is to go to Settings and turn them back on by following 4 steps.

Are you experiencing the same issues if you pair the AirPods to a different device entirely? Testing that out can help to see if it may be caused by something on the current device.

"When you're wearing both AirPods, press and hold the force sensor on either AirPod to switch between Active Noise Cancellation and Transparency mode. You can customize which modes to switch between (Active Noise Cancellation, Transparency mode, and Off) in Bluetooth settings on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac."
Give that a try, and see if there is any improvement.

Yes, I knew about this shortcut the day I received the AirPods, (2 sets of them) It does switch but, the transparency settings in the main setting are off, no matter what you do. Unless I go to:

The same issue with another iPhone XR.
I think I did find the issue with that pair, it's not only charging and pulling out that sets the transparency off, but also the distance between these 2 devices. 100 feet or so, switches the transparency to off and can be only switched back manually, but not moving closer distance back to the iPhone.
I did contact them and they suggested sending the AirPods pro in and they will investigate if it's repairable or not. If not, they would send me a new one refurbished. Unfortunately, I can not be without one, as I am using them as a hearing boost device. So the easiest way is to buy a new pair. That is too bad that small devices like AirPods pro are not replaceable even being under the warranty. :o( Besides, they still would say that they work fine, just reset them, and they will work fine.

Resetting Aipods helped only one of the airpords pro, the second one continues with the same issue.
