Lightening Bolt on MacBook Pro

I can’t restart my MacBook Pro, it keeps defaulting to a lightening bolt strike. Would anyone know what this means and how I can move past this to logon again. Prior to this I was working in excel and for some reason the cell kept filling up with t’s. I wasn’t touching the t. So was behaving strangely beforehand. Any help would be appreciated.
