iPod Touch (6th generation) not able to access all of Audible library

I've used my Touch for more than 4 years to listen to audiobooks.

A few weeks ago, my Touch would only show my about 1/4 of the books in my library.

I spent an hour with two Amazon technicians, and they said that maybe because my iPod can only be upgraded to IOS 12.5.6 and use v. 3.24.2 of the Audio app, it can no longer sync properly with my library.

I have no problem with my iPhone or iPad, which are both on IOS 15.6.1 and v. 3.78.1 of the Audible app.

I wanted to find out

  1. Are other iPod owners experiencing this problem (not being able to fully access their Amazon Audible library)?
  2. Is there a work around?

I was told to use my browser on my iPod (Chrome, in this case), log into my Audible account and listen on-line. Or download the audiobook to my iPod through the website and play the aax file on the iPod. I tried doing that and while I could download an aax file, I couldn't find an app that would play the book.

Interesting development . . .

I happened to be cleaning out a closet, and I found my old iPad mini, model 1. I'd forgotten it was there. So I charged it up. It can only run iOS 9.3.5 and Audible app v 2.29 (the current Audible app is 3.78).

And the Audible app lists ALL of my audiobooks (400+), and I could download current books, as well as those I'd purchased 17 years ago.

Frustrating.
