macOS High Sierra install USB killed

I try to make bootable USB for my old macbook, but terminal does this:

zsh: killed sudo --volume /Volumes/MyVolume

How can I fix this problem?

The terminal command:

sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ High\ Sierra.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/MyVolume

My USB is called MyVolume as well.

Terminal returns command not found re: USB bootable drive MacOS I am trying to create a bootable USB drive using the standard method suggested by Apple. Terminal returns e.g. "sudo: /Applications/Install OS X El Capitan.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia: command not found". I say "e.g." because command will vary depending on which OS you want to use for the bootable USB. I've checked the filename of the .app in Applications folder and it's identical to that in the sudo command (pasted-above). I can't vouch for the contents ("Show Package Contents") but I suspect the issue is more with Terminal - or maybe the USB isn't formatted correctly (Disk Utility needed perhaps?). I've installed XCode in some form (not visible as an app) to assist Terminal, and the sudo command on its own seems to work. I'm running "Monterey 12.7.1" and "Intel Iris Graphics 6100 1536 MB", "2.7 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5". Are you able to help, anyone? Thanks

bootable usb Big Sur reateinstallmedia: invalid option -- ? Hi, I have 2 PCs, one with BigSur (that works) and an old one with HighSierra (that stuck on the boot). My objective is create a bootabe media from bigsur to highsierra I have formatted an USB with GUIDD. with the command "diskutil list" I can see it /dev/disk2 (external, physical): #: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER 0: GUID_partition_scheme *63.3 GB disk2 1: EFI ⁨EFI⁩ 209.7 MB disk2s1 2: Apple_HFS ⁨chiavetta⁩ 63.0 GB disk2s2 with the command cd /Volumes/chiavetta I can access it in terminal Then I run the command: sudo /Users/noidue/Downloads/Install\ macOS\ High\ Sierra.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia -–volume /Volumes/chiavetta --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ macOS\ High\ Sierra.app/ (the path are get dragging the icons from the finder to the terminal) I have this error... createinstallmedia: invalid option -- ? Usage: createinstallmedia --volume <path to volume to convert> Arguments --volume, A path to a volume that can be unmounted and erased to create the install media. --applicationpath, A path to copy of the OS installer application to create the bootable media from. --nointeraction, Erase the disk pointed to by volume without prompting for confirmation. Unable to use bootable usb to install macOS I’m on a MacBook Pro 2018. I was on Big Sur and unable to upgrade from system preferences. I used MDS to create a Ventura bootable usb. I then erased the Mac and tried to install from the usb. I shutdown and when I turned it back on I held down the option key. When the volume screen came up I released option. However it did not show my usb drive as a volume to choose. It only had my mac hd. I had this same issue with my newer MacBook and thought I could fix it the same way. But it won’t bring up the usb as a volume to boot from so now I’m at a loss. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is no --volume option to sudo.

zsh killed sudo --volume /Volumes/myvolu… - Apple Community
