Will erasing iphone disconnect it from esim?

I haven’t had a chance to look if the phone had the network on esim when my passcode kept not working but after erasing it esim network was gone - had no option to choose to keep it. My phone had literally no storage, would that cause passcode to not work. I couldn’t open certain apps like Gmail one day before. So I had to delete some photos to be able to access Gmail again.

I’m not 100% sure if passcode didn’t work at the same time as esim network but I vaguely remember that I had a few text messages coming in which I didn’t care to look too carefully as I was concerned about passcode not working. After erasing the phone the esim wasn’t there for sure which I had to go into telco shop to get it fixed as the service was unavailable after resetting it. It worked immediately when the guy put a physical sim in it with my number - calls and text messages. No suspicious activities on my telco account, bank accounts etc.

I initially thought it was some sort of hacking, maybe not sim swap or porting but now I’m wondering if lack of storage could cause passcode to not work at all sometimes and esim being erased by hard reset on the lock screen. Thanks for the advice.

Thanks for the reply, in short I was having trouble accessing my phone with correct passcode several times and it locked me out for a minute and then 15 minutes a couple of times. There were only two options - one was Emergency call at the left bottom corner and the other one Erase iPhone at the right hand corner.

I’m not sure if the esim was on but vaguely remember text messages coming through before erasing it but I was panicking as I thought my device was hacked or something. So I quickly made a decision to erase the iPhone and that’s when it just took me right into setting it up as a new device - so no option popped up to keep esim or any cellular network.

My other question is would lack of storage cause things like passcode to not work properly? I know it does a lot of weird things and won’t let me use many apps like

gmail etc. just trying to figure out if it was being hacked. Telco guy says my account has not been tampered with. So if he is being honest, it shouldn’t be sim swap or porting. Is there any other known way of iPhone getting hacked. Particularly concerned about the latest announcement from Apple with no details.
