The newer class of the M1 MacBook Pros 16" are not work with HD TVS with HDMI ports. We have tried it one several port options both the HDMI on the Mac and also through USB-C port adapters.

How does one get this option to work?

You need Certied High speed cables (all the way through). If there is a portion inside a wall or leading in to a projector it needs to be certified cabling as well. Cable lengths over about 13 meters are very difficult to get working.

HDMI cables you want for HDMI-only Monitors (higher resolutions than 720p TV sets) are marked as Certified with an anti-counterfeiting tag and are labeled:

"Premium High Speed HDMI cable" or that + "with Ethernet" --OR--

"Ultra High Speed HDMI cable" or that + "48G"

Cables with No Certification tags are good for your standard 720p TV set, and not much more.

Hello K_Faith,

When ordering the computer we were told this would work the same as it did on the Mid 2015 MacBook Pro. We fell this was false advertising and needs to be informed to customers.

There are many schools and universities who still a regular HD television is their highest level available to staff and students. How are they to present material or reports as assigned if the computer is not comparable with common equipment, when previous models had this ability?
