Screensaver flashing

In the last month or so I have noticed that when the screensaver comes on it will flash a partial and discolored version of the screen behind it. So when watching a movie and paused long enough the screensaver would come on and the paused movie still will flash repeatedly until the screensaver is turned off. I have checked for updates, I have repeatedly restarted the AppleTV both through the menu options and unplugging it, and am unsure what else I can do to fix this. It seems to flash from the normal screensaver to the distorted combined screen approx every 30 seconds
