iPad 12.9 pro and iPhone 13 pro unable to sync over WiFi

I am having this issue since last year and even after several updates Sync over WiFi remains an issue. Most of the forums recommends to restart the device but it is not the solution to this problem every time. After restarting the issue did resolve sometimes but not always. I tried to dig into sync service level restart without restarting but unable to find anything yet. Force quit Finder did help for devices to appear in Finder side panel but as soon as I click on the iPhone it keep loading and suddenly disappear.

All this is happening while on same WiFi network and network is very stable indeed.

If anyone knows apple device discovery/sync service please let me know. It seems to be some but in the service with hang after some time and cause weird behaviour.

Follow these related steps to see if they resolve this issue:


  1. If you haven't yet, make sure both devices are backed up and up to date: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support & Update macOS on Mac - Apple Support
  2. Make sure both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network (2.4 GHz band or 5GHz band).
  3. Check if you can sync by connecting the device via a cable: Sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod using your computer - Apple Support
  4. Restart both device normally and your Wi-Fi network equipment.
  5. Reset Network Settings on your iPhone in Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset Network Settings and confirm. (This will remove your saved Wi-Fi networks, VPNs, Hotspots, etc. Until you add them back again.)


If the issue continues to occur, then it would be best to contact Apple Support

They'll need to take it from here.
