iPhone Apple Music storage

I use Apple Music to stream music to various speakers around the house usually using my iPhone. I find that I am running out of space on the iPhone (216.8 our of 256). Apple Music uses 197.73GB. I guess a lot of the music has been downloaded to the iPhone. Isn't there some way to just have the lists of songs on the phone without actually downloading the songs to the phone? Is there some way to start over without losing my playlists and personal music. I usually manage the music on the iMac or my iPad. Thanks for any suggestions.

In the Music app, tap on the album then tap the 3 dots [...], tap Remove then tap Remove Downloads. You should also be able to do it through Settings > Music > Downloaded Music. Either way should keep the music in your library without being downloaded.
