Anyone else experience corrupt files within the Dropbox directory after migrating from Time Machine?

macOS Monterey v12.5.1 Mac Studio M1 Max.

I read a thread here: Dropbox files and Time machine - Apple Community

Which explains that there can indeed be issues using Time Machine and Dropbox on the same machine. Woah! I had no idea???

Well, I can attest, it's not a good idea. Some of my larger media files were corrupted within the Dropbox folder after the migration assistant copied over my data onto my new machine. I was using it to migrate from a MacBook Pro 2019 to a MacStudio M1 Max.

I also use a terminal command to tell Dropbox to ignore certain files/folders because I don't want my intermediate media files being synced to the cloud (single files around 100+ GBS each). Usually I want the raw footage and the project files as well as the final deliverables on the Dropbox server. So sometimes I will use a terminal script (provided by Dropbox on their website) to tell Dropbox to ignore certain files or folders so they remain on the hard drive (being back-up by Time Machine) and not sync'd to the Dropbox server. It was a solution I came up with to keep my project folder structures managed well. Rather than creating an intermediate files folder outside the project and outside the Dropbox root folder, it made more sense to turn that folder off and keep the project intact.

This has been a decent workflow, but I wanted to say that it's not full proof. Now I'm curious how many corrupt files are on my new machine?

Does anyone have a workflow or service that allows you to selectively backup certain folders to a cloud server and not force you to separate the project folder into two?
