Files app has random screenshots of Safari activity.

Honestly I don’t know if this is normal but, Like any other person, I search up a lot of stuff everyday. Go on websites, have fun. I don’t take screenshots of a lot of things, But when I do, it obviously saves into my camera roll/gallery. But sometimes, I go on the “Files” app. And I see screenshots of what I was searching up? For example, theres this online art website. I do it on my iPad and iPhone (same iCloud/Apple ID) and sometimes theres this screenshot of what I was doing? I never took the screenshots. I think sometimes I have and sometimes I havent, But anyways, It’s not in my gallery. Just the Files app. Why? And how? I’m nor sure how this happens, But I hate it and it makes me paranoid. Any reassurance, Or answers on why/how this is happening? It’s not on my phones files app either. Just my iPad.

iPad, iPadOS 15

Hi selangg,

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you may be taking screenshots of pages which are larger than the length of your iPhone screen. If that is the case, it will be saved as a PDF. When you take a screenshot of a longer page, tap on the screenshot to see two tabs; Screen and Full Page. If you select Screen, you will see the option to either save to Photos or the Files app. If you select Full Page, it will be saved in Files. This is explained a bit further in Take a screenshot or screen recording on iPhone - Apple Support.

"Take a screenshot

  1. Do one of the following:
    • On an iPhone with Face ID: Simultaneously press and then release the side button and volume up button.
    • On an iPhone with a Home button: Simultaneously press and then release the Home button and the side button or Sleep/Wake button (depending on your model).
  1. Tap the screenshot in the lower-left corner, then tap Done.
  2. Choose Save to Photos, Save to Files, or Delete Screenshot.
  3. If you choose Save to Photos, you can view it in the Screenshots album in the Photos app, or in the All Photos album if iCloud Photos is turned on in Settings > Photos."

Take care.
