Recommendations for USB-C hubs?

Since I moved to a M2 MacBook Air from an Intel MacBook Pro, I had to give up the 4 USB-C ports. I habitually used at least three ports:

+ One for both power and my LG monitor

+ One for a backup disk

+ One for an aux disk for storing and working on video editing. (This happens to be a USB device.)

When doing searches, I see a number of ports (including the one sold by Apple (USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter) that it contains one USB-C port that appear to be for power pass-through only.

First of all, does "power pass-through" mean no data? It seems ambiguous based on the verbiage, which is usually something like "a USB-C port for power" comments.

Does the Apple hive-mind have any recommendations for a hub with at least 2 USB-C ports, plus a traditional USB port?
