Duplicate Photos Folder not showing on iOS 16

In the Photos app, under the Albums tab Utilities section, I expect to see "Duplicates," however, I only see "Imports" and " Recently Deleted" under Utilities. Am I missing something?

Note: I am on iOS 16 RC build.

If the duplicate photos folder is missing on your iPhone

"The detection process requires iPhone to be locked and connected to power. Depending on what tasks are running in the background and the size of your photo library, the process could happen quickly or take up to a few days to complete."

How many photos do you have? It will depend on the library size.

The "Duplicates" album will be shown in the "Albums > Others" section of the Albums tab, but only, if you are viewing your joint iCloud Photos Library. It is not available, if you are viewing the personal library or the shared library separately.

Are you using iCloud Photos at all?

Try to duplicate a photo to force the Duplicates album to appear.

I do not want to disable iCloud Photos on my iPhone to test, if the duplicates album requires iCloud Photos and a shared library. It would the very wasteful, to disable iCloud and then start the syncing again. It would be great, if someone could test, if the Duplicate album will appear, after turning iCloud Photos and the shared library on.

I have more than 3500 photos; that's a lot but I am on iOS 8 since beta 8. That's about two weeks time so I assume the photos would already be processed by now. iCloud Photos has always been enabled, but I don't have a shared library. I also created a duplicate photo now to see if that triggers the creation of the Duplicates album.

That sounds hopeful. I've yet to see the Duplicates Utility even when I manually create multiple duplicates. I note that other iOS 16 users in the UK and parts of Europe are reporting the same issue. I updated to iOS 16 around 15 hours ago so I'd have thought the change would have flushed through the Photos app. Maybe I just need to be really patient!
