Ambient temperature

Other than the body temperature, does the new Apple Watch series 8 provide an indication of the ambient temperature, similar to the water temperature measurement that the Ultra provides?

constantinos161,

That's a great observation. In this case, it seems that the only way to be 100% sure is to wait for the product's release to see if that feature is available.

So far, all we can tell is that an indication of the ambient temperature doesn't appear to be listed as a feature in the link below.

Hi there constantinos161,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. he Apple Watch Series 8 does not have a depth gauge with water temperature sensor. So the answer to that question would be no. You can see the specs on both of these devices here:

Thanks for your feedback kareng12,

I believe both series 8 and ultra have the two temperature sensors; one under the display and another at the back (the one making contact with the skin).

The ultra possibly uses the temperature sensor located under the display to measure water temperature.

The depth sensor is indeed unique to the ultra, but that’s not relevant.

So I was just wondering if series 8 has any indicator of the ambient temperature via the display sensor,

in addition to the body temperature it measures by combining the two sensors.

I guess since Apple did not advertise such, it is probably not there 🙂
