Whatsapp backup

Hi community,

Today I'm writing to share with you a strange discovery that I made today.

Since my iCloud space is full I was going through the backups and I found out that my iPhone is doing 2backups of Whatsapp:

1 of 4.46gb like the one reported inside the app

2 of 15.4gb inside the iPhone backup

Can you tell me the difference between these 2 ?

iPhone 13, iOS 15

Delete Whatsapp backup from iCloud Hi I want to delete the iCloud backup of my whatsapp chat history ONLY, but not the actual whatsapp application data that is stored on my mobile. I’ve noticed when i follow these steps after disabling backup from whatsapp it says Steps: Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > Manage Storage > WhatsApp Messenger > Delete Data “This will delete all data for this app stored on this iPhone and in iCloud. This action can take some time...” However i have seen a tutorial when for others it says it will only delete the iCloud backup. Why is it different? Is there something else enabled which is causing the delete action on my phone to delete it from phone and icloud?

WhatsApp Duplicate Backups Hi My iPhone creates two WhatsApp backups - one as a standalone backup and another as part of the device backup. What is the difference? To save iCloud storage space, I'd like to disable one but I'd like to understand what the difference between the two is or whether I actually need to keep both in the event I need to restore from backup. Many thanks

That's a question best asked of WhatsApp support as that is not an Apple product.
