If it is provisioned w/ an eSIM which works with a carrier in Uzbekeistan … YES.

No Uzbek carriers are currently listed on the link provided.

While that list is a “best attempt” by Apple, they will likely have a tough time keeping it “current” in a dynamic environment with hundreds of carriers and “virtual” carriers.

Assuming that it IS “current” one would have to use a carrier w/ International Roaming in Uzbekistan.

No, that’s not what I said.

if you buy a phone and don’t provision a SIM it will not work anywhere.

If you buy a US 14 and provision it w/ a carrier who has international roaming (e.g. AT&T, EE, Vodaphone, Orange, T-Mobile, …) it will work perfectly.

I DID say that local eSIM providers are not listed in Uzbekistan … but you don’t have to have an eSIM carrier in a country to allow an eSIM-fitted phone to function.

So you say but I have a sneaking suspicion that there are going to be a lot of angry users who buy their iPhone 14 in the U.S. and find out they can’t use it where they are going or will have to get service from other carriers ahead of time to do so. Travelers have gotten used to popping out one SIM card and sticking another one in.

But you are right. When we traveled to Germany we didn’t have to do anything. Our carrier is AT&T and we paid $10/day for unlimited international roaming while in Europe. Everything was on our regular AT&T plan.
