You should definitely not do that!

The models differ by country.
The U.S. model does not support a SIM card.
The iPhone cannot be repaired by an Apple representative outside its country of origin.
Your warranty will be invalid.
There may be some cellular frequency differences.

Purchase the iPhone in the country where it will be used.
