Voice text response not an option with CarPlay?

I just got a Honda Insight and connected my phone with Apple CarPlay. When I get a text message, it pops up on the screen and the car will read me the message. However, to reply I can only type back a message if the car is stopped, or else select one of the responses from a list—there is no option to reply to the message using voice text. Instead, I have to use Siri and say to text the person and dictate my message to my phone. Is there no option to reply using a voice text through Car Play? If there is, how do I set it up?
