Carplay not picking up text messages to send out

I have an iphone 13 that I use with my car, and have for 5 years. Int he apst 2

weeks, something has happened that will not allow me to send messages over carplay anymore.

I can say - Hey Siri, read me my messages - and that works. When asked if I want to respond - this works, as well. When attempting to speak the actual response, however, no sound is picked up. Saying ‘cancel’ doesnt get picked up - nothing is picked up by Siri again until I exist out of messages completely and say ‘Hey Siri, shuffle my music’ or some other such command. Even requesting to read my messages works - but responding to my messages doesnt.

I have upgraded to the latest versions of ios (17.4). I have the latest updates on my car software. I have reset the carplay connection multiple times. I have rebooted my car’s infotainment system. Nothing works. Carplay is essenetially useless for text messages. Please advise how to proceed

I have tried all of these steps and still can not get sori to pick up my response. I have spent hours researching, talking with my car dealer and manufacturer, and I am still unable to use messages in my car. Everything else works except Siri picking up what my text/response is.

Some of these steps may help you resolve the issue.

  1. Make sure Siri is enabled on your iPhone. Go to Settings > Siri & Search and toggle on "Listen for 'Hey Siri'" and "Press Side Button for Siri."
  2. Go to Settings > Siri & Search > Siri Voice and change the voice. After that, try to use Siri for text messages again.
  3. Restart both your iPhone and the car's infotainment system. This can sometimes resolve connectivity issues.
  4. On your iPhone, go to Settings > General > CarPlay > [Your Car], then tap Forget This Car. Reconnect your iPhone to CarPlay and set it up again.
  5. Make sure that Bluetooth is enabled on your iPhone. Go to Settings > Bluetooth and ensure it's turned on. Also, check if your iPhone is connected to the car's Bluetooth.
  6. Ensure that the "Do Not Disturb While Driving" feature is not enabled. Go to Settings > Do Not Disturb > Do Not Disturb While Driving and select "Off."
  7. Check if there are any software updates available for your car's infotainment system. If there are updates, install them.
  8. Test if the issue is specific to the Messages app. Try using Siri for other functions or messaging apps to see if the problem persists.

If the problem continues, there may be a deeper issue that requires assistance from the car manufacturer's support.
