Verizon.net email stopped working on iPad

Had account set up in mail app, but suddenly tells me the imap username/password is incorrect. Still works on iPhone and using safari so username and password are correct.

Has your email provider switched to using App Specific Passwords? If so, you will need to generate a unique password for your iPad email account - that will differ from your normal Account Password. As examples - AOL, Yahoo, Google, Microsoft all use App Specific Passwords when using anything other than their own email client Apps.

If you need to generate an App Specific Password, you’ll need to log-in to your Mail Providers account management webpage - using a web browser - and generate the Password from the appropriate account security page.

More information about AOL’s App Specific Passwords can be found here:

For Yahoo, more information can be found here:

@LotusPilot, that was EXACTLY it. Needed a 3rd party app password. I'm assuming b/c the iOS on the old iPad is, well old, vs my phone and a newer iPad I tried. Those directed me to an AOL security page to sign in when I was setting up the mail app in the standard fashion.

Note to anyone reading this and using either a Verizon.net (now using AOL's servers) or AOL.com mail, use the first link he provided and follow the directions to set up a 3rd party app password. Once generated I easily set up the mail account on the old iPad.
