Messages disappear

Still having problems with receiving messages - but not all messages- some are text messages and some have pictures with them/ usually they are from my sons who have iPhones too - me 13pro, son 1- 13 and son 2- 11, I’m thinking it has something to do with my virtual SIM card- i have reset network setting after chatting with sprint/T-Mobile support but it did nothing

iPhone 13 Pro, iOS 15

Hey Immarvie.

There could be quite a few things causing issues with receiving messages. The title of the post mentions that messages disappear but the body of the message doesn't reference that. To make sure we're on the same page here, are some messages disappearing in addition to others just not being received at all?

Here are some basic opening steps to try if you're not receiving messages on your iPhone:

"

  1. Restart your device:
  1. Check your network connection. To send a message as iMessage or MMS, you need a cellular data or Wi-Fi connection. To send an SMS message, you need cellular network connection. If you turn on Wi-Fi Calling, you can send SMS messages over Wi-Fi.
  2. Check with your carrier to see if the type of message you’re trying to send, like MMS or SMS, is supported.
  3. If you’re trying to send group MMS messages on an iPhone, go to Settings > Messages and turn on MMS Messaging. If you don't see an option to turn on MMS Messaging or Group Messaging on your iPhone, then your carrier might not support this feature.
  4. Make sure that your device has enough space to receive images and videos.
  5. Make sure that you entered the correct phone number or email address for the contact. "

This info comes from If you can't send or receive messages on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Further down that same resource, there are more detailed steps to take based on what is happening specifically with those messages.

You also mentioned that some were texts. It's important to clarify that, as text messages, or SMS messages are sent through the carrier network, rather than iMessage messages which are not. What color are the bubbles that surround those messages? Blue would indicate iMessage conversations and green would indicate SMS/MMS messages.

Take care.

I knew it had to do with cellular data. I told the T-Mobile agent that it’s shows I have no cellular plan - they had me reset the network but it still shows Add Cellular Plan- , I was thinking to May since i had a virtual SIM card that had to do something with it- i will give reach out and see what they can do for me - thank you so much for your help!!

Well- i type this in disappointment/ it is not the cellular - i had T-Mobile go over every setting and data I have- they are telling me it is a issue with the IPhone 13 Pro and i have to get in touch with Apple on it. I seen it is also happening when I receive a personal message and/or photo from my boss’s - both of there messages are showing in the preview but as soon as I click on it it is gone, if I go their information I can see the photo but the messages are somewhere out in space floating around I guess!! Darn it anyhow!!
