Edge browser : Certain apps, features , or services can't be seen or used when restrictions are on. To use this app, turn Restrictions off.

I would like my child to use the Microsoft Edge browser on their iPhone while still having Screen Time features enabled for protection. Specifically the ability to Not Allow App Store installs/uninstall.

However, when I try to launch Edge, I receive the following message:

"Certain apps, features , or services can't be seen or used when restrictions are on. To use this app, turn Restrictions off."

Edge was working just fine on the child iPhone with Screen Time restrictions enabled, up until a few weeks ago (Sept 2022).

I have tried the following without success:

    1. Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > Content Restrictions (enabled) > Web Content (Unrestricted Access)
    2. Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > Content Restrictions (enabled) > Web Content (Limit Adult Websites)
    3. Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > Content Restrictions (enabled) > Web Content (Allowed Websites Only)

The following works for allowing me to use the Edge browser, but is not successful because I lose the ability to restrict app content.

    1. Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > Content Restrictions (disabled)

How can I use Edge browser on child device while still having Content Restrictions (enabled) so I can not allow app store installs/uninstalls - as was the case a few weeks ago?

Thank you in advance for any assistance.

Hey TKGC1,

We can understand wanting to look into your options for managing Screen Time with Microsoft Edge.

First, we'd recommend reviewing Screen Time options in the following article to see your options for adjust screen time settings: Use Screen Time on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Based on the steps you've tried, there may not be an option to allow Microsoft Edge without disabling Content Restrictions as you've mentioned. That would be dependent on how Microsoft Edge is designed. You may want to reach out to Microsoft support for further information and assistance on that. You can find their contact page here: Microsoft Support

Thanks!
