iOS 16 Wallpaper Shuffle not working

I have an Issue related to the Photo Shuffle not Working. But this is more about the Slideshow Order. The Feature was to Manually Select the Photos I wanted them in an specific order, and I got ir that way. Until I updated to the iOS 16.0.1 Version I think. After the update got complete for some reason, the order in which my Photo Shuffle Wallpaper Pictures was put before updating my iPhone, suddenly changed, my photos were put in a random order instead of the one I had before the iOS 16.0.1 update. Got me confused and mad, all for sacrificing my data, because I reset all my settings to see if the problem was fixed, but it didn't work. It only persisted and got much worse, and obviously, the problem is still to be solved. I'd appreciate if anybody in this Community can reply and help me fix this issue, thank you.

I don’t get the option to choose people. I only get 1 category shown Pets and even using that it only cycles through a few pictures. I have many more on phone. Some even in my Favourites and yet none of those ever come up.

Like everyone else on this thread, I am experiencing issues with the photo shuffle feature when creating a personalized wallpaper. I have about 25 people identified in the People album of the Photos app but only 4 appear as options when choosing photo shuffle and two are not people chosen as “favorites”. Also if I tap on the “photos” option and select the “featured” or “people” tabs it only gives about six photos to choose from. I performed a hard reset, turned off “Show Featured Content” , tapped on “Reset suggested Memories” and “Reset People Suggestions” and there has been no change. You would think that turning off “Show Featured Content” would eliminate all featured photos as options when creating a photo wallpaper but it didn’t, same options appeared. Even reset all settings and rebooted phone again and no change. There’s definite a bug there.

I have the same issues with limited photos being cycled. I’ve manually selected 12 photos from my album and set it to change every hour, but it seems that only 3/4 photos are in rotation. When I customize again and add the same photos. It just takes different 3/4 photos to rotate.

I’m can not understand how ios 16/Apple manages to mess up something seemly so basic as wallpaper rotation.

It seems that 16.1.2 has fixed my wife’s phone. She has a selection of all the “people” she has made in her albums and the photo shuffling is working without issue.

Updated phone to 16.1.2 but issue still persists. Restarted phone, turned off “show featured content “ reset Suggested Memories and suggested people and issue persists. Did you do anything else after updating the OS?

No. It just suddenly began working. The issue was on my wife’s phone and it seemed to just suddenly start working. My phone has always mostly worked but she had very few “people” to choose from. Suddenly most of her people showed up and the shuffle rotation began working. If the issue is not fixed widespread then we need to keep this thread rolling until Apple fixes it.

I initially had a few people available, none of them named in Photos. So I took some time to go through my photos, and name people. Now all of the people I have named are not available in the wallpaper, including the one person that I had previously selected, who I have now named. I cannot edit contents at all if I still want to see that person, because none of my named people are available, and they are the exact people I want to show.

ugh I’m so upset! The same thing happened to me! I used to have my wallpaper shuffle through my daughter’s photos. After making changes to her album (adding more photos of her) I go back and now only two people out of the 7 I have are available for the wallpaper shuffle, and my daughter is not one of them! I also had the issue where it only shuffle through a very small number of pictures, which is why I was messing with the album to begin with.

Same issue here. I want to put my wife and two sons on shuffle but I’m only able to choose my wife and 1 son. My other son doesn’t show up in the options even though he’s a “favorite” in my people section. How is this not fixed??

I consulted with senior advisors about photo shuffle and selecting people in iOS

it was giving me a random limited amount of 9 people to select even though my people album has over 35 people

they said iOS 16 randomly selects a certain people and not much to do

thinking out of the box I

deleted all my people in the people album causing iOS to repopulate all and I mean all the people into the album

I then tried the photo shuffle and noticed it took time mind you that every single person was now as an option for wallpaper

I’m warning everyone that even though the people where all there to select it took over night the phone plugged in to charge and locked for photo shuffle to repopulate all the individual pictures into the people .if you try it right after all your people show up in photo shuffle you will notice when you select the people there are no photos so wait at least 12 -16 hrs then after that every single people that was in my photo album was selectable in my phot shuffle .

Fix for phot shuffle missing people

I found a workaround to fix limited people to select from photo shuffle even though there are many in my case over 35 people in my people album

thinking out of the box I deleted all my people in the people album

This forced iOS 16 to repopulate all my pictures of people in the people photo album

then I went to wallpaper phot shuffle

select people and every single person was available to select that was in my people album all 35

the only thing is when you select people right after the process it doesn’t work it shows no pictures

i guess iOS 16 needs time to repopulate every picture from your phot album into the wallpaper application so in my case I charged my phone overnight and waited till the next day by noon I could select from all 35 people all the pictures were there for use featured photos

again I hope this works for everyone this was my experience hope it helps

Same issue for me, I have limited options on selecting my people. Did anyone find an answer?

I updated to 16.0.3 in hopes that it would fix things - no luck.
