I am also having this problem. Wifi times out / becomes very slow often after updating to IOS16. I see many people on twitter having the same issue. Often, in Wifi settings, it will say "No Internet Connection" even though I am connected to Wifi.

Things I have tried:

Reset network settings. (Did not fix issue.)

Reset phone from backup. (Did not fix issue.)

Reset router, and modem. (Did not fix issue.)

Forget the network and rejoin. (Did not fix issue.)

Updated to 16.0.2 (Did not fix issue.)

Other devices without IOS 16 work just fine on the same WiFi, so I know it is a result of installing IOS16. The issue did not appear until IOS16 was installed.

Note: I can connect to the wifi just fine, but the connection is terrible and times out often.

Router is a Linksys EA8300 if this helps.

Thanks.

Another avenue that I had looked into is my own Wi-Fi router DNS settings. If you had configured your Wi-Fi router to NordVPN client services or any other VPN services and not the DNS IP address of your preferred ISP provider, then the issue will arise.

I resolved this by redirecting the DNS IP to the defaulted DNS IP address (primary & secondary) to my own preferred ISP DNS IP address settings.

While it may work for me, it may not be the same for you but no harm trying it out.

Hi,

I have 2 iPhones and 2 iPads with iOS 16 and 1 MacBook with macOS Ventura.

They all have wifi connection issues.

Each time, they are well connected to the wifi router, but the IP address displayed is strange: 192.0.0.2 for the device (instead of 192.168.1.xxx) and 192.0.0.1 for the router  (instead of 192.168.1.1).

I don't know why the IP address changes on its own.

DHCP is always on and no VPN is setup.

Apple asked me to reset my iPhone, reset the network settings and even replace the motherboard but the problem is still there.

I’ve had this problem for many OS versions. I’ve probably got a dozen TYPES of wifi-connected devices in the house (Emporia Vue, Tesla Powerwall, MyQ garage doors, thermostats, Eufy video doorbell a LONG DISTANCE from my router, TV sets, a Windows PC and laptop, EVEN MY 2013 MACBOOK PRO) and they all work reliably; they are always there when I need them.

But my iPad and iPhone? To be fair, they are probably connected 95% of the time, but I use them ALL THE TIME so that 5% when they say “no internet connection” or “can’t connect” to any and all of my 2.4 and 5GHz network options is really annoying.

I mean, this is the most basic, fundamental part of an iPad - how can Apple still be getting it wrong after years of hardware redesigns and software updates.

Inconceivable. Fix this, you trillion dollar tech genius corporation, and stop telling us to reboot and upgrade the firmware on our wifi routers.

Just chiming in to say I'm now on 16.2, and the issue is still there. Not resolved yet. I'm not going to make any effort other than checking threads once in a while to see if someone solved it, as I've done everything imaginable except resetting my iphone (I refuse to do this, this is not a valid solution.) I didn't pay for the phone to act as my own tech support. If it doesn't get resolved by the time I need a new phone, I'm back to android. I'm not locked in to any ecosystem, and I never had an issue like this with android.

I’ve had some success with turning off the location services toggle. (Privacy and security— location services toggle) I had tried all the suggestions that I could find and zilch. This was a last stab before I brought the IOS back to a previous version something I really didn’t want to attempt. This has improved the connectivity of my iPad pretty well. It’s not perfect and I miss location services and now have to turn it back on ever so often for weather and map apps. Still waiting for the fix but it has saved me from throwing the iPad across the room. My iPhone 13 is great it was just this somewhat older IPad that had poor connectivity after the 16.2 update

Apple needs to fix this wifi issue asap. I cant have a couple minutes with WiFi before I lose connection. WiFi works perfectly fine on my other apple device, and this problem started a couple days after downloading IOS 16. It’s been so annoying for the past couple weeks, I can’t do anything on my phone, I have only written a few lines of words and it has disconnected me two times. Never buying an apple phone after this. Fix your problems apple, everyone who has had this problem had it for a long time, and you can’t do anything about it except your data, like most people I don’t have infinite data. Stop being lazy and fix it.

here are a few things I tried:

Reset WiFi (Doesn’t help)

Reset Modem (Doesn't help)

Forget WiFi (Doesn’t help)

Change DNS server (Doesn’t help)

Reset IPhone (Doesn’t help)

Updating to iOS 16.3 ( Doesn’t help)

Fix it apple

I tried everything listed here, but nothing helped. I am on IOS 16.3.1 when I lost my Wi-Fi on iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Then I read about deleting VPN. I did and there was my Wi-Fi like magic. Didn't turn in back on. Will try that after enjoying my cherished Wi-Fi for a few hours.

I still think Apple may have laid off the wrong people. When at first you don't succeed, try again!

Thanks Denise
