iOS 16 battery life

I assume other people are experiencing issues regarding their device's battery after updating to iOS 16. I've done all of the usual troubleshooting steps and my battery is dropping fast! Same thing for my Apple Watch.

If I'm the only one (not likely), then cool, I'm the guinea pig to try stuff on. If not, I'll assume everyone else has the same issues.

Hi jedimasterkyle88,

Based on the date you wrote this, it had been a day since the full iOS 16 release was made available to the public. The first few hours to days depending on the amount of data your device contains, the OS is working in the background to index all of your files and it’s information. This is helpful when it comes to features like Spotlight Search.

At the same time, users tend to poke around at the fresh new OS looking for new things or trying out new features, while still using the phone for normal, everyday tasks. So it’s like there are two new users demanding a little extra energy from the OS at the same time as “regular user” you.

Where I’m going with this is that it’s likely totally normal. Once the OS has completed its background maintenance in 1-2 days, users typically notice that battery life is back to or better than what they expected.

If you find the time to confirm this please check back so other users can know the outcome. Likewise, if anyone else reading this can confirm, feel free to chime in.

Cheers!
