No cellular data on iPhoneX

Hi all


I am not sure if this is related to the recent iOS 16 update on my iPhone X or not, but I am not able to use cellular data. I get the following message in Safari "Could not activate cellular data network." I have done everything I can think of including.

  • Resetting the phone
  • Resetting the network settings
  • Checking for carrier updates
  • Turning airplane mode off and then back on again
  • Turning cellular data off and then back on again
  • Removing my SIM card and then reinserting it.


I am hoping that someone else has some suggestions for fixing this problem

See this Post: iOS 11 and Tracfone/Verizon lock APN profile, so no data on any new carrier - Apple Community

Googling "tracfone.vzwentp", The issue is reportedly a bug set by your carrier. SIM cards are configured by your Carrier. If you read the post, you're iPhone is apparently configured to be used as a Tracfone. So, ask your carrier to give you a new SIM card.

Here are 3 screen shots.

  • The first shows that I have cellular data turned on.
  • The second shoes that I don't have cellular data, despite being it be toggled on.
  • The last shows the APN profile that I have loaded on phone right now.


The profile I belive from others have said is not correct. It should be vzinternet, instead of what I have there, as it was recently updated. I tried to update this by texting PP, APN to 611611, and I get the reply that my "data settering were configured," but this not fix the problem. I also tried to manually update this, but apparently PP doen't allow to edit the APN profile, they only allow you to install or remove, but nothing lese. Also when chatting with PP on Messanger I get the following reply "Your phone does not require APN reprogramming." I can not get them to understand what the problem is and that they have done NOTHING to fix it.

Hi all


I am posting one last reply to let you that I can not confirm that my issue was with the SIM card, although a friend told me that he had similar problems and ended up buying a new card. After contacting PP to change the SIM card everything worked okay. Just finished porting my PP number over to T-Mobile, so I never tried to change my SIM card.

See "No Service" on the top-left corner of your screen? If so, read the following...

Troubleshooting iPhone with "No Service":


A. Getting Around this Error:

  1. Go Here: If you can't Activate your iPhone - Apple Support
  2. As it Reads: "If your iPhone can't be activated or an alert says the activation server is unavailable or the SIM card is unsupported, learn what to do."


B. "No SIM":

"No SIM"*** is shown on the top-left corner of your screen. So, go here to fix that: If you See 'invalid SIM' or 'no SIM' on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

A screenshot would most certain help in this issue, so we can see what is on your screen. Please reply with one. I have chatted with my carrier Page Plus (now owned by Verizon) online and they acted like nothing was wrong despite NOT giving me ANY suggestions for fixing my problems. I tried to chat today hoping to get someone different and it just tells me to call a 1-800 number. That was fine until I was disconnected while on hold. On a side note I am moving to T-Mobile next month after they send me an iPhone 14 Pro. I am just hoping the process of porting my number is not a pain. I am hopeful that I just don't have to limp along for the next few weeks or longer without cellular data.

Yes, because PP was owned by Tracfone which is now owned by Verizon. Sounds like sometime after the Verizon purchase the APN changed, but for whatever reason, it never made to my phone. I am not sure it is even worth getting a new SIM card, as I am getting a new phone and moving to a new carrier in the near future. I was really hoping that someone knew where I could download this new APN profile, as I can't go manually update the setting myself. I know where I can download the old APN profile, but not the new one. Just frustrated that PP is not more helpful.
