IOS 15.7 and iPadOS 15.7 Slowing down my devices

I've Just updated my devices to IOS 15.7 and iPadOS 15.7 on Tuesday 13th September 2022 and I've noticed my iPhone 7 Plus and iPad mini (4th gen) being slow and sometimes hanging ever since the update, Is apple making us to buy newer devices by stopping and slowing down old devices.

All my devices are in good condition and is not in need of an upgrade. Is anyone else using an older Apple device with ios 15.7 facing the same problem.

Hey there vhs_walt,

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities. If having issues with the performance on your iPhone or iPad, give the steps listed in the following resource a try that can help with troubleshooting this specific issue: About iOS or iPadOS performance on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Close an app that's not responding
If an app stops responding or freezes, you might need to force it to close and then open it again.*

1. From the Home screen of iPhone X or later or an iPad, swipe up from the bottom of the screen and pause slightly in the middle of the screen. On iPhone 8 or earlier, double-click the Home button to show your most recently used apps.
2. Swipe right or left to find the app that you want to close.
3. Swipe up on the app's preview to close the app.

* Under normal conditions, force closing apps is not necessary and does not make your device run faster. In fact, an app takes longer to open after a force close because it has to reload all of its data. Learn what to do if an app repeatedly stops responding.

Make sure you have enough storage
If your device is low on storage, iOS or iPadOS automatically frees up space while installing an app, updating iOS or iPadOS, downloading music, recording videos, and more. iOS or iPadOS only removes items that can be downloaded again or that aren't needed anymore.

You can check your device's storage in Settings > General > [Device] Storage. For best performance, try to maintain at least 1GB of free space. If your available storage is consistently less than 1GB, your device might slow down as iOS repeatedly makes room for more content.

If you need to free up some space, follow these steps to turn on the storage-saving recommendations built in to iOS or iPadOS:

1. Go to Settings > General > [Device] Storage and read the recommendations that iOS or iPadOS might provide.
2. Tap Enable to turn on a recommendation, or tap a recommendation title to review the content that you can delete.

If you don't see any recommendations—or if you need to free up even more space—you can review the apps on your device. They're listed on the same [Device] Storage screen along with the amount of space that they use.

Tap an app, then choose from the options:
- Offload the app, which frees up storage used by the app, but keeps its documents and data.
- Delete the app, which removes the app and its related data.
- Depending on the app, you might be able to delete some of its documents and data.

Keep us updated on the results after going through the steps above, and we'll continue from there.

Take care!

I too have the same issue. I have an iPad Pro 11inch and was fine until I updated to 15.7. Now apps like YouTube and Safari are very slow to load, its like I’m using 3G.

I’ve tested my internet speed and its running ok at 50mbps. It’s got to be the update that’s caused the problem as was fine before.

Come on Apple you need to provide a solution, its got to be a bug or something you have implemented to do with security, its like having a virus scanner running in the background.

Exact same issue it’s like I’m using an old iPhone4 or something but with the new software so everything takes forever to load it all runs slow and lags or freezes

i have a t-1 line and it’s running fine that’s not the issue CS needs to stop asking if it’s my internet/Wi-Fi that’s absurd even if it was the data would kick on so that doesn’t even make sense

This Apple response is insufficient. I’ve restarted, cleared memory. 38Gb should be enough, but performance is poor. Multiple seconds for the touch screen to recognize a touch on application buttons that weren’t part of the update effects as noted in the iOS change documentation. Something more basic in the system functions interface is interfering with general operations. Please check your bug reports. I get this daily in my analytics: excerpts
