Wifi connection unstable on 2017 MacBook Pro

I recently moved to a new house and set up my internet with Spectrum Modem using a ASUS RT-AX86 Series router. The issue i'm having is that my wife and I both have 13-inch, 2017 MacBookPro's. After being connected to the wifi for 10-20 minutes seemingly randomly the internet stops working on the computer. It shows it is still connected to the wifi and shows three bars but there is no connection. Upon toggling on and off the wifi on the laptop and reconnecting the internet connection starts working again. This will keep happening ever 10-20 minutes. This is an issue for my wife who uses her laptop to attend class remotely and constantly is getting booted from zoom meetings. I have tried restarting both laptops and rebooting the modem and router. The issue just persists.

I do use a 2019 MacBook Pro that my job sent me as my work computer and that has connected and worked fine with the wifi for the past 2 months. I have not been disconnected from the wifi once on that or any other device. I'm not sure if this is some software/hardware issue with these older macs and their compatibility to my router?

So, my MacBook is able to connect to the wifi. It just consistently works for anywhere from 5-30 minutes and then stops working while still saying it is connected to the wifi. I can then reconnect by toggling the wifi toggle and then it works again for anywhere from 5-30 minutes. The fact I can reconnect right away is fine but it is extremely frustrating when live video meetings get disconnected repeatedly. I've tried reseting my router and modem. I've also made sure my router was updated to have the latest software. I tried reseting my PRAM and NVRAM and SMC. None of this has resolved the issue. All my other devices are able to stay connected to the wifi and do not experience this issue which has been happing for the past two months. I therefore feel like it has to be an issue with my two 2017 MacBook Pros. I will look into the wireless diagnostics.
