"Messages" app: Prevent URL being converted to video/picture, title and description

Is there a way to turn URL conversion off, either in app or at the app settings level?

It can be super annoying to have a URL text converted into a video/picture, title and description so basically the simple text item that has informative path information in the text get converted at posting time to something that doesn't even have the URL information present (the only thing that was truly needed)

Example store finder URL

Wanted this URL to show up in message, making it total obvious it's a store finder link.... https://crumblcookies.com/stores

Apple converts it to the following which was totally unnecessary and even worse, now the meaning (store finder) has been lost, because nothing in below item has the URL, which is the only thing that I actually wanted to send.

Hi fox94610,

There isn't a setting to keep the url as a hyperlink verses a preview. This is determined by if the website metadata can be found in the referenced page, and iOS/macOS will automatically show the preview if so.

We suggest leaving feedback to Apple with your thoughts on this feature. You can do that by going to Product Feedback - Apple.

Reach back out if you have more questions.

Take care!
