Gif not allowed during screen time restrictions

Hello! I have followed the instructions to allow the gif in messenger to be allowed during “downtime” but it still restricted.

”Messenger” is not an option under “allowed apps” under “privacy and restrictions.” (See photo)

But “messenger” IS listed as “always allowed” under screen time, and the #images gif feature is part of my app drawer.

How do I enable gifs on the app drawer to be always active?

There doesn’t seem to be a way to fix this - from what I can tell, apple claims it’s “by design.”

However, with iOS 16 they’ve now moved the voice memo button to the app drawer, so it’s rendered useless during downtime. Hoping they will remedy this quickly!

Hello ariane131,

Thanks for choosing the Apple Support Communities. It looks like the ability to send GIF images are available in your bottom screenshot. Here is how to send them.

Send and save GIFs on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

"Add a GIF from #images

Use #images in the Messages app to find and share GIFs with your contacts. Here's how:

  1. Open Messages, tap compose message, and enter a contact or tap an existing conversation.
  2. Tap #images icon.
  3. To search for a specific GIF, tap Find images, then enter a keyword, like birthday.
  4. Tap the GIF to add it to your message.
  5. Tap send icon to send."

If that doesn't work, can you send us a description of what happens?

Cheers!
