When I try to set up a new wallpaper for my lock screen using one of my own photos, I haven't got the 'People' option (iphone 13 / iOS 16.0) although it's there on my wife's iPhone 12 (also iOS 16). I have every other option (Photos, Photo Shuffle, Emoji, Weather, Astronomy, Colour), but not 'People'. Any idea why? TIA.

Yes, we all use iCloud for photos and share albums. On her device, she has a dedicated People icon (second from left) - photo 1, which I haven't got - photo 3.

I do have a People option under Photo Shuffle but that only picks up photos of my daughter - photo 2 - even though my Photos app sees 5 people - photo 4.

The80sFan,

In the Photos app do you see albums for those different people? Is there anything different about the album for your daughter as opposed to if they are any others? Such as, did you name your daughter in your People album? Or have you made her a favorite person?

Find and identify people in Photos on iPhone

Name a person in your People album
1. Tap the People album, then tap the face of the person whose name you want to add.
2. Tap Add Name at the top of the screen, then enter the person’s name.
3. Tap Next.
If a face is identified as two or more people in the People album, tap Select, tap each instance of the person, then tap Merge.
4. Tap Done.

Favorite a person
Mark the people that you interact with the most as a favorite so that it’s easier to find them.
1. Tap the People album.
2. Tap next to the person’s photo.
3. To favorite multiple people at once, tap Select, tap each person that you want to favorite, then tap Favorite at the bottom of the screen.

Thanks.

The80sFan,

We'd like to narrow this down a bit further. Do you use iCloud Photos on your device? Also, does your wife use it on her phone? Also, when she sees this option on her device, is it listed specifically as "People" or does it show up under the "Suggested Photos" category?

Also, have you tried tapping the Photo Shuffle option? We tested and when we do that, it mentions that smart photo collections like "People" will be available once it completes processing. Test that out, and let us know what you find.

Take care.
