im trying to stop text messages on my phone also going to my iPad. I have followed the steps (settings/messages/disabled text message forwarding) but they are still coming through to my iPad!! Driving me crazy.
another other ideas?

Last question - if I delete all the convos/messages on my iPad will it delete them from my iPhone? I don’t want the old ones on there

No. Each device houses the message threads separately - unless you chose to keep your messages in iCloud.
