When trying to update to 15.7on a non service iPhone 8 tells me can’t verify update can’t connect to internet

This message will appear if you have an older update on the phone that was never installed, or had a problem installing.
To see if that might be a possibility.......
Settings > General > iPhone Storage
Scroll way down to the very bottom and look for any Software Updates.
Tap on Software Update, then tap Delete
If you are running a VPN on your phone, disable the VPN, restart the phone and try the update again
