I Book on mac book

I cannot open my books on my mac. when I try i keep getting a message saying the book is not formatted properly i have deleted and redownloaded, I have force quit the app, I have checked my settings restarted the computer Nothing has worked please help i paid for the books and now i can't read them form my mac
