Face ID verification not available in app store for app download

The feature you're looking for would be found in Settings > Face ID & Passcode. The label for that feature is "iTunes & App Store" on that page. Use Face ID on your iPhone or iPad Pro outlines that process in detail in the section titled "Use Face ID in the iTunes Store, App Store, and Book Store in Apple Books":

1. "Open the iTunes Store, App Store, or Book Store, then tap something that you want to buy.
2. When asked to pay, double-click the side button, then glance at your iPhone or iPad. If you're wearing a face mask that covers your mouth and nose but Face ID with a mask isn't set up, tap Pay with Passcode and enter your passcode instead.
3. Wait for Done and a checkmark to display."

The setting was reset with the new OS. Go to Accessibility, and down the

bottom you will see two options in under "Side Button Confirmation" in

blue text. Select the first one "Switch Control" to set up the ability

to use Face ID for "double clicking" the side button.
