Per this link, Keyboard shortcuts in Mail on Mac - Apple Support, there should be an option in the File menu for New Viewer Tab, but I don't see that in my menu as shown in the screenshot. Thoughts?

Ahh, interesting. So when I first click on the File menu it says New Viewer Window. But when I press the shift key to get the screenshot, that changes to New Viewer Tab. Didn't notice that in the pic, so thanks!!

Many menu items change when you hold down the modifier keys.
That I knew, but didn't think about it when first looking at the File menu. And to throw myself under the bus even more, the link I put in original post does say hold shift!! 😂😕
Can you confirm that the third item in the menu you posted does not open a New Viewer Tab?
