Changed iCloud password, logged in on phone and online yet can not log into iPad.

Forgot passcode for iPad Pro, restored iPad, reset password, logged into icloud.com online and was able to log into cellphone but can not log into iPad. Even if I use iPhone with account logged in I am still asked for a log in. When trying to sign in while iPad is plugged into iTunes on computer and get message this iPad can not be access with this account. I thought maybe wrong account but when playing around at the iCloud.com site was able to remotely lock device and display a message so it is the correct account. Why can I not log in. Have restored iPad a few times now including the DFU restore with no change. It's like the iPad is not updating the new password but the account is updating because I was able to log into an IPhone X with the account info. Very confused, not sure what else to do.

Hi margom-ca,

Thanks for coming to Apple Support Communities for help yesterday.

What you are describing sounds like Activation Lock. It is, however, unclear why it isn't able to be set back up for you if you know the correct Apple ID and password.

Have you followed the steps here: How to remove Activation Lock. You might be able to remove the device on the iCloud site from a computer's browser.

"Remove Activation Lock on the web if a device is offline

  1. Go to www.iCloud.com/find.
  2. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
  3. At the top, click All Devices.
  4. Select the device that you want to remove from iCloud.
  5. Click Remove from Account."

If that doesn't work, we'd suggest a deeper dive with Apple Support.

Have a fantastic day!
