Display settings completely reset after sleeping.

I have 2 external monitors connected to my MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2021). The monitors are the same model. One is plugged in HDMI -> Dongle -> USB C. One is plugged directly into the MBP HDMI port.

When my MBP comes back from sleep, it swaps the monitor positions and resets all of the scaling - even on the primary Retina display, for some reason.

Multiple times a day, I have to rearrange the display positions, update monitor rotation (because one is vertical), and reset the scaling for all 3 screens. I'd rather be working.

I've never run into similar issues on any Linux distribution or on Windows with the same displays in the same configuration.

Hello usercanthaveconsecutivenumbers,

If you go to the following spot, Apple > System Preferences > Mission Control, try to un-check "Automatically rearrange spaces" and "Displays have separate spaces". Let us know if that makes any different regarding the arrangement.

If you were unable to see improvement with the previous steps, your best bet from here would be to Contact Apple for support and service and report the issue.

Thanks for the reply (and I know that a lot of people have that problem with spaces), but this particular problem lies outside of spaces - it has to do with the displays themselves.

The displays themselves are rearranging - the MBP is literally mixing up which monitor is which (and resetting all scaling as well).

i.e. my extended vertical monitor to the left of my MBP gets swapped with the extended horizontal monitor above the MBP. So when the MBP wakes up suddenly both monitor contents are sideways. I move my mouse to what's supposed to be the upper monitor and it appears on the left monitor and vice versa.

Is there any way to submit a ticket? I can't imagine a phone support agent being able to do anything about what appears to be a bug in OSX display management.
