Sync pending and cannot upload new files/folders from my PC to icloud

This already happened many times, and MANY files were not uploading which hurt my work. Then finally I couldn't stand it anymore and "sign out" then sign in back, as suggested when I did online search. I lost files since I didn't realize that some files were not uploaded yet and logout erased them all! Well, I have >20,000 files, so it took 2+ days to show the files on my PC (win11) after signing back. I even had to move my computer to another room and connect the cable directly, instead of using wireless. Inconveniently, I had to work in a different room. Finally, this morning, all files appeared in my PC icloud drive, so I moved the desktop back to my study room. Then I started to write and created new Word files. Unfortunately, the new files cannot be uploaded again! It always says, "Sync pending". Could you please help? Please do NOT ask me to sign out and sign in again. I cannot afford to do it again. I switched to icloud because my previous program had this kind of uploading issue. Icloud is as disappointed as the other one. My internet is fine, not wireless issue.

Hello chia249,

So just to confirm, do you see any errors when files are not loading? Also, is iCloud for Windows fully updated per the steps at Download iCloud for Windows - Apple Support?

Additionally, do you have any kind of third-party security software installed? That can cause the computer not to be able to connect to Apple's servers. If you do, then we'd recommend reviewing Resolve issues between iCloud for Windows or iTunes and third-party security software - Apple Support

If your security software is causing an issue with iCloud for Windows

  • You can't sign in with your Apple ID.
  • You see "Verification Failed: An unknown error occurred" or "An error occurred during authentication. Please try again."
  • You see "Your setup couldn't start because your username or password is incorrect" or "Your setup couldn't be started because the iCloud server stopped responding."
  • iCloud services won't update.

Thank you very much for your reply! My iCloud download was fine, and things worked well after I redid everything (signed in and signed out).

But then suddenly, when I tried to open pptx files, it couldn't download the powerpoint file and then showed "Error 0x800701AA". I searched it but things were not solved. I did not block the app and the computer can connect to the iCloud server. McAfee seems to be fine. Then after trying multiple things, I saw one of the error messages showed "file scan" or something like that. I then recalled your reply about the 3rd party software. So I went to McAfee and turn off all file scanning. Then it seems to be working now.

It is still strange to me. I suspected that one or 2 pptx files had scanning problem, though they are just regular PowerPoint files. Then it stopped everything.

Thanks again for your help!
