You may want to wait for the next system upgrade macOS 13 Ventura to be released this fall. It will come with a built-in duplicate detector. See the paragraph about Photos in the preview: macOS Ventura Preview - New Features - Apple

Duplicate detection

Photos identifies duplicates in a new sidebar item, so you can quickly clean up your library.

On your current system the best option would be PowerPhotos from FatCat software. It is a very versatile companion to Photos, and can even deal safely with an iCloud Photos Library, but you would need the full, paid version to remove duplicates, while Photos on macOS 13 will do it for free.

If you want to use a third-party app for removing duplicates, you have to be very careful. You need a tool that has been developed specifically for Photos and does not try to modify the Photos Library directly, but is using the strictly the program interface to Photos. Quite a few cleaning apps to remove duplicates ay damage the Photos Library and render it useless. You have seen this warning: Using third-party apps to remove duplicate photos might damage your Photos for macOS library
