hard disks ejected

My hard disks become ejected when the computer goes to sleep and then I get umpteen messages that hard disk XXX was ejected.

Is there any way of stopping this?

Disk not ejected properly message in Sonoma I have an iMac Retina 5K 27 inch 2020. I use a SanDisk drive for my Time Machine backups. I am running Sonoma 14.1.1. When I wake my Mac most mornings, the Disk Not Ejected Properly Message appears. My backups seem to be working properly. Rebooting causes the message to go away. My energy saver is set to Prevent automatic sleeping when the display is off. Since rebooting causes the message to go away and my backups are current, how concerned should I be?

Please tell us what your Energy Savings settings are set at? Also, when was the last time your reset the NVRAM and restarted in Safe Mode?
